Indigenous History Month at the Library

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to learn about the unique cultures, traditions, and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. It’s a time to honour the stories, achievements, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial and whose presence continues to impact the evolving Canada.

Here’s how you can mark Indigenous History Month at the Library.

Join a program

  • Movie Matinée: Singing Back the Buffalo
    Saturday, June 28, 2 – 4 p.m.
This film follows Indigenous visionaries, scientists, and communities who are rematriating the buffalo to the heart of the North American plains they once defined, signalling a turning point for Indigenous Nations, the ecosystem, and our collective survival.
