North Vancouver, B.C.—As if spectacular trails and some of the best snow sports spots in the world weren’t enough, the North Shore’s local writers’ community is alive and well and growing—and our local libraries are keeping up with them. In addition to regular programs that support writing and content creation in our community, the North Shore’s library systems—North Vancouver City Library, North Vancouver District Public Library and West Vancouver Memorial Library—are proud to inspire, support and celebrate the literary talent in our midst through the North Shore Authors Collection.
Over 100 titles from almost 70 local authors, including some as young as 15 years old, have been included in the libraries’ 2019/2020 collections, showcasing the community’s varied and diverse literary ability and influence. From novels, to self-help books, and everything in between, the North Shore Authors Collection does not disappoint.
The collection is set to be unveiled at a special celebration event, hosted by all three library systems, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 at West Vancouver Memorial Library (1950 Marine Dr, West Vancouver). Attendees will enjoy light refreshments, meet and mingle with talented local authors and explore their diverse works and ideas.
The collection will officially launch in all three libraries following the event, and all accepted titles will be available to borrow throughout next year.
The North Shore Authors Collection connects local readers to local writers, and promotes local content in our community, including books that are traditionally published, self-published or independently published. Applications for the 2020/2021 Collection will open at the end of April 2020.
