Talking ’bout My Generation
The 1960s was a decade of cultural and societal revolution, creating a soundtrack that still lives in the minds of the Baby Boomer generation. Instructor John Mitchell will investigate the different musical genres that dominated the period and ask, “[d]oes music change society, or does it merely reflect the times?”.

John Mitchell is a multi-instrumentalist who has been touring and performing across Canada for over 25 years. As a concert producer, he has worked with artists such as Tom Jones, Kenny Rogers, Brenda Lee, John Denver, and Johnny Cash. He is a member of the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music, the Society for Reproduction Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers in Canada, and a Member of the Writers Guild of Canada. Combining his interest in politics and his passion for music, John became the musical political satirist for CBC’s television show Midday (Toronto), and for CBC’s Vancouver radio programs The Early Edition, Almanac, and The Afternoon Show.
