Friday Night Concert: Blue Moon Marquee
Friday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m.–8:45 p.m.
Blue Moon Marquee is a swing blues, stomp jazz band born of the wild rose country. They currently make their home in an island shack on the coast of the Salish Sea. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette (vocals/bass/drums) write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps, or grooves.
Recently, their fifth album, Scream, Holler & Howl, rocked the 2023 Maple Blues Awards in a stunning four-award sweep, winning the coveted categories of Entertainer of the Year, Acoustic Act of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Record/Producer of the Year. It’s the first time in the 26-year history of the awards that one artist has swept in these specific categories. A.W. Cardinal is the first Indigenous artist to win the big four categories.
Blue Moon Marquee quartet performs Big Black Mamba live at Cowichan Performing Arts Centre.
Watch a short documentary about a little band on a little island and their music, garden, motorcycles, and other creative projects.
This concert is made possible thanks to a generous bequest in support of music at the Library from the estate of Robert Leslie Welsh through the West Vancouver Memorial Library Foundation.
