As part of the Library’s Remembrance Day commemorations, join West Vancouver author Roddy MacKenzie as he discusses his book Bomber Command: Churchill’s Greatest Triumph. Roddy’s father served in Bomber Command during the Second World War, but unlike so many brave veterans who survived the war, he seldom spoke of his exploits.
When Roddy tried to learn what his father achieved, he discovered the Allies were unclear about what Bomber Command accomplished because our intelligence inside Nazi Germany was poor. Roddy also discovered that one out of every four Canadians killed in uniform in the Second World War died in Bomber Command, so learning what it accomplished is important. To do that, Roddy turned to the Germans. They reveal how effective Bomber Command was as a war-winning weapon and that it was vital to victory in our defeat of the Third Reich.
Books will be available at the event ($60 cash or cheque only).
