And Then She Fell by Alicia Elliott

A mind-bending, razor-sharp look at motherhood and mental health follows a young Indigenous woman who discovers the picture-perfect life she always hoped for may have horrifying consequences. Alice is where she thought she should be in a new home with her supportive husband, Steve, and their beautiful baby girl, Dawn. Yet, she feels like an imposter, struggling to connect with her daughter after the recent loss of her mother. Alice hides her despair from Steve and their watchful white neighbours. Her growing self-doubt hinders the one vestige of her old life she has left: her goal of writing a modern retelling of the Haudenosaunee creation story.
