Renovations
The Mezzanine (non-fiction area) is closed for a renovation to both seismically upgrade this floor and better serve the needs of our community. The Mezzanine will reopen in early 2025.
What to expect
There have been lots of changes around the Library in preparation for the Mezzanine closure and renovation. Our goal is to avoid as much disruption as possible. We have strategically moved collections and prioritized the availability of high-demand materials on the shelves while the Mezzanine is closed.
Here’s where to find these collections:
Fiction Wing | West Wing |

FAQs
Why we’re renovating
This necessary seismic upgrade will extend the life of this floor while avoiding the costs of new construction. We will also reuse and repurpose existing shelving and furnishings throughout the renovation to save on costs and reduce our environmental impact.

A number of collections will be impacted during this project.
Lower-use fiction and non-fiction books have moved to long-term storage (accessible by placing a hold).
Biographies, Literature books, and Graphic Novels moved to the Fiction area. Travel books were relocated to the West Wing, which already houses some other non-fiction collections.
The Mezzanine level will be closed on Wednesday, October 16. We anticipate that construction will be completed in early 2025.

The study carrels have been relocated to the Peters Reading Room and tables/chairs to the Main Hall while the Mezzanine is closed. Other collaborative and solo study spaces are available in the Community Computing Centre on the Lower Level and in the East and West Wings on the Main Floor.
This project is funded through the multi-year capital renewal budget from the District of West Vancouver.
