On Thursday, April 17, the Library will close early at 3 p.m. to host a closed special event in celebration of WWII D-Day veteran and former Library Board Chair Harry Greenwood on his 100th birthday.
Mr. Greenwood is a recipient of the Legion of Honour Medal and a Commendation from the Canadian Ministry of Veterans Affairs. For his voluntary service to many local organizations, Mr. Greenwood was named Citizen of the Year by the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Greenwood was also featured in the Library’s Research to Remember oral histories project in 2018.
At the suggestion of the Library Director, the WVML Board approved this one-time early closure through a special resolution in recognition of the significance of this milestone and Mr. Greenwood’s specific service to the Library, the West Vancouver community, and the country as a D-Day veteran.
The Library will also be closed on Friday, April 18, Sunday, April 20, and Monday, April 21 for Easter, and open Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular hours resume Tuesday, April 22.
