Tech Talk: Exploring the Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence

FreeJoin us for an engaging talk by Issam Laradji as he explores the fascinating world of AI in a way that’s accessible to all people.
You’ll learn about chatbots and virtual agents that can talk to you about all kinds of interesting topics and can potentially become your pen pal. You’ll learn about AI creating beautiful pictures and how AI can sometimes create fake audio and videos that make you think they came from a real artist or a rock band. We’ll also dive into how AI can be used to create interactive fun activities and games (like Trivia games) and discover how AI can turn your basic drawings and sketches into real websites for your personal needs or business, perhaps. The talk will be an exploration of how AI is changing the way we get creative and productive.
Bio: Issam Laradji is a research scientist at ServiceNow Research and an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, specializing in building AI solutions that require minimal human effort. With a postdoc from McGill’s Graphics lab and a PhD from the University of British Columbia, his research interests include natural language processing, 2D/3D computer vision, and optimization. He is passionate about bringing together a community of AI enthusiasts and making AI accessible to everyone. In pursuit of this vision, he has created many libraries,s including Haven-AItoo to empower individuals to build AI solutions for a wide range of real-life applications and research problems.
