The Canadian Bankers Association (representing 60 banks operating in Canada) lists programs launched by banks in Canada in response to the urgent challenge of the COVID-19 outbreak. Programs for individuals include reducing credit card interest rates, deferring payments and instituting low minimum payments on credit cards.
The CBA also lists programs for small businesses such as deferral of payment on small business credit cards and credit lines and payment deferral on the principal of a small business loan.
Local credit unions are also offering programs such as Vancity's 0% interest and payment deferrals for up to six months to eligible cardholders who are impacted by COVID-19, Coast Capital's credit card payment deferrals and Blue Shore Financial's client financial relief program.

Fortis BC has implemented a fund which will allow residential customers to defer their bill payments from April 1 to June 30. Repayment schedules can be set up to allow bills to paid in full over a year after June 30. Small business that remain open during the COVID-19 crisis are eligible for bill deferral. Businesses that have been forced to close can receive bill credits for any charges to their accounts during the time they’re not able to operate.
