WVML wins two more Best of Show Awards at the PR Xchange

For the second year in a row, West Vancouver Memorial Library (WVML) has won two Best of Show Awards in the annual American Library Association’s (ALA) PR Xchange competition. Our Website Takeaways won in the category of Patron Orientation/Policy Materials (print) and our Music Playlists tied for the award of Materials Promoting Collections (print).

“We’re thrilled to be recognized again for the creativity, hard work and talent that went into creating these promotional materials,” says Director of Library Services Jenny Benedict. “Thank you to the American Library Association for acknowledging the outstanding collective efforts of our staff.”

Website Takeaways: These eye-catching cards combine vibrant colours and thought-provoking quotes with specific functions of our new website, from tools for teens to research assistance.

Music Playlists: These lists feature recommendations of classical and jazz music from prominent figures in the Vancouver arts scene as well as Library staff. A special list for parents offers musical suggestions to enjoy with children, and describes why music is important to children’s development and how to incorporate it into their lives.

WVML’s entries were chosen from nearly 350 print and electronic pieces submitted in 10 categories from public, academic, school, state and special libraries across North America. Entries were appraised on the quality of content, design and originality.

A complete listing of this year’s winners is available at ala.org/llama/awards/prxchange_winners.

Award certificates will be presented during the Best of Show Ceremony on Sunday, June 29 at the PR Xchange event at the ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas. The Best of Show Awards are sponsored by the Public Relations and Marketing Section of the Library Leadership and Management Association, a division of the ALA.
