ESI EDUGYAN in Conversation with Jen Sookfong Lee

Join us for a lively virtual discussion between CBC Radio Host Jen Sookfong Lee and award-winning author Esi Edugyan. In this session, Sookfong Lee will explore the powerful themes and messages in Edugyan’s Scotiabank Giller Prize winner Washington Black. An audience Q&A and prize draw will follow.

Best-selling writer Esi Edugyan is the author of critically-acclaimed Half-Blood Blues, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize, the Governor General's Award for English-Language Fiction, and won the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize. She is also the author of Dreaming of Elsewhere, and Washington Black, which was shortlisted for the Rogers Writers’ Trust, and Man Booker Prize, and won the 2018 Scotiabank Giller Prize. She has held fellowships in the US, Scotland, Iceland, Germany, Hungary, Finland, Spain, and Belgium. She lives in Victoria, British Columbia.

Jen Sookfong Lee was born and raised in Vancouver’s East Side, and she now lives with her son in North Burnaby. Her books include The Conjoined, nominated for International Dublin Literary Award and a finalist for the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize, The Better Mother, a finalist for the City of Vancouver Book Award, The End of East, Gentlemen of the Shade, and Chinese New Year. Jen teaches at The Writers’ Studio Online with Simon Fraser University, edits fiction for Wolsak & Wynn, and co-hosts the literary podcast, Can’t Lit.
