Kids can practise their reading skills by signing up for an appointment to read with a certified Paws for Stories therapy dog. Research shows that reading to a dog is tremendously motivational for kids and also provides a calming, relaxed environment for children who may be feel hesitant or anxious about reading.
Sessions are 20 minutes. Kids must be school-aged, able to read some English on their own and comfortable reading with a dog and the dog’s adult handler.
