For seven decades, Gordon Smith has explored the mediums of painting, printmaking and sculpting with zeal and intensity. A key figure in the history of Modernist painting in Canada, and long-time resident of West Vancouver, Smith counts the Order of Canada and the Governor General's Award among his many accolades.
Most widely known for his paintings of Canadian landscapes, Smith continues to experiment with aspects of nature and abstraction. The serigraphs he creates with long-time collaborator and printmaker Marius Soska, complement his painting, collage and photographic practices. Smith's prints provide another way in which to connect, explore and reflect upon his larger canvas works.
