Please join us for a special screening of The Road Forward with filmmaker Marie Clemens, who will introduce the film and answer questions at the end. This musical documentary connects a pivotal moment in Canada’s civil rights history—the beginnings of Indian Nationalism in the 1930s—with the powerful momentum of First Nations activism today.
Throughout October, WVML will host four screenings of Indigenous films from the National Film Board as part of the NFB’s “Aabiziingwashi (Wide Awake): NFB Indigenous Cinema on Tour”, which aims to bring stories told by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit filmmakers to viewers across the country. Powerful and profound, these films will educate, inspire, and help create new understanding and connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.
