[CANCELLED] Re-Design a Book Cover: Melissa’s Story | Ages 9 – 12 [VIRTUAL]
Wednesday, October 6 at 4 p.m.–5 p.m.Free
Please note: This program will no longer be running on October 6. If you would like to participate, you can register for the same program on October 22. Click here to register!
HELP! The library needs a new cover for the book, Melissa’s Story, and we want you to make us one. Melissa’s Story, by award winning author Alex Gino, is about Melissa’s journey to be known for who she really is. Alex Gino renamed the book after feedback from readers that the original title was hurtful. Alex encourages everyone to correct their copy of the book by redesigning the cover. You can learn more about Melissa’s Story and Sharpie Activism here.
You will use Canva to re-design the book cover.
Kids are expected to spend about 20 minutes learning before the program.
What you’ll need: A computer with microphone (or headphones) and webcam for Zoom. A free Canva account and a free Zoom account. Parents and caregivers can find information on creating a Canva account here and a Zoom account here.
We will use the “waiting room” feature on Zoom to let participants into the program one by one to keep things safe.
An email address is required for registration. We will email you the Zoom link and more instructions 24 hours in advance of the program.
