Critics often say that the music of the 1970s pales in comparison to that of earlier decades. Join instructor John Mitchell as he leaves the 1960s behind and investigates the evolution of Soul, Funk, and Disco music. He will feature artists such as Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, the Jackson 5, Sly and the Family Stone, the Bee Gees, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.

John Mitchell is a multi-instrumentalist who has been touring and performing across Canada for over 25 years. As a concert producer, he has worked with artists such as Tom Jones, Kenny Rogers, Brenda Lee, John Denver, and Johnny Cash. He is a member of the Society of Composers, Authors, and Music, the Society for Reproduction Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers in Canada, and a Member of the Writers Guild of Canada. Combining his interest in politics and his passion for music, John became the musical political satirist for CBC’s television show Midday (Toronto), and for CBC’s Vancouver radio programs The Early Edition, Almanac, and The Afternoon Show.
