Mason Bee Cocoon Washing Demo
Thursday, January 26 at 6 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
Free
Have you ever wondered how to safely and effectively wash mason bee cocoons to ready your hibernating bees for the coming Spring? Join the library’s resident mason bee expert Taren Urquhart for a 90-minute hands-on lecture on how to safely remove, wash, and store cocoons. We will also identify different pests that prey upon hibernating bees throughout the year and how learn how to deter them.
Participants are welcome to bring their own full mason bee houses and we will clean cocoons together. Expect to get dirty and find some interesting insects hibernating in our bee houses. All equipment will be provided. Please dress appropriately.
