Howe Sound’s ancient glass sponge reefs are a globally unique ecosystem that provide important habitat for many marine animals of commercial, recreational, and cultural significance.
Join Sheila Byers to learn why sponge reef ecosystems are important and how the research contributions of citizen scientists have supported the protection of these sensitive habitats.
Sheila Byers is a Registered Professional Biologist, marine biologist and the current Vice-President of the Marine Life Sanctuaries Society.
Presented in partnership with Lighthouse Park Preservation Society.
For this virtual program, we’ll be using Zoom.
