Financial Literacy for Newcomers [VIRTUAL]

January 28 – Financial Literacy for Newcomers – Part 1: Introduction to Basic Banking
February 4 – Financial Literacy for Newcomers – Part 2: Personal Lending
In the first session on January 28, presenter Danielle Segur will introduce the basics of banking. Topics will include how to choose the right bank account for your needs, different methods of banking, and ways to reduce account and transaction fees.
In the second session on February 4, presenter Sherri Shariatifar will cover different types of loans, credit cards and lines of credit, and how to build a good credit rating.
Both of these sessions are presented in partnership with Vancity.
Danielle Segur is the Community Branch Coordinator at Vancity’s West Vancouver Community Branch. She has been with Vancity for 10 years and has been teaching financial literacy for five.
Sherri Shariatifar is the Assistant Branch Manager of Vancity’s West Vancouver Community Branch. She has been with Vancity for over 12 years and has been teaching financial literacy for 10 years.
