At the end of May the provincial government in Alberta announced that it would be setting standards for school library books. According to a survey they conducted between May 26 and June 5, most Albertans don’t want them to do so. Why is the province going ahead despite such objections and why are book bans on political agendas whether locally, nationally, or internationally?
