Volunteering

Become part of the Library family! West Vancouver Memorial Library is a much beloved cornerstone of the community that achieves excellence due to the support and generosity of the many who contribute.

Friends of the West Vancouver Memorial Library

The Friends is group of some 170 devoted residents –some actively involved, others quietly supportive – who care deeply about our West Vancouver Memorial Library and the enrichment it offers our community.

The Friends fundraise through books sales, sidewalk sales and the book cart. They host many popular events such as the annual Remembrance Day tea and the Summer Reading Club Ceremony.

West Vancouver Memorial Library Board

Library Board Trustees are dedicated to upholding the ideals of a free, democratic society by promoting intellectual freedom and providing free, equitable access to knowledge and ideas. The Trustees are instrumental in ensuring that the leadership, policies, relationships, financial resources, and infrastructure are in place to support the success of the West Vancouver Memorial Library.

West Vancouver Memorial Library Foundation

The Foundation raises funds for enhancements to the library, including facility improvements, equipment, furnishings, materials, and programs and services. The Foundation manages over $4M in donations, bequests and fundraised proceeds. In the past five years, $1.75M has been transferred to the Library.

Adult Volunteer Program

Adult volunteers donate hundreds of hours each year to shelve paperbacks, shelf-read specific sections of the collection, and process discarded materials. Our adult volunteer program is currently full and we are not taking applications at this time.

Teen Volunteers

Are you looking for a way to get involved in the community? Need service hours for school? Volunteering at the Library is a great way to give back to the community and to learn how the library works. We have several options for teens interested in giving their time. Please note that we can only accept teen volunteers in Grades 8-12.
